San Vicente de la Sonsierra is the only place in Spain where self-flagellation has survived.  These processions have been held since the 15th Century. Although the most well known are celebrated in Easter time (April 9- 10 /2020), during the celebration of the Holy Cross “Los Picaos” can also be witnessed and it is not so crowded.
